Chapter Chiefs and Advisors:
The time has come once again for Unit Elections. I have been called on to
organize the effort this year, but of course I will not be able to be at all
the elections. Please follow these steps to make the elections process run
smoothly:
1. Organize an official Chapter Elections Team if you have not done so
already. Also, be sure you have some alternates just in case someone can
not attend an election.
**Please note that you cannot conduct the election for your home troop.**
2. Contact the OA Rep and Scoutmaster of each troop in your chapter to
schedule a date to hold elections that is convenient for everyone.
3. During the election process, which should only take 15-25 min. depending
on troop size, please emphasize to the troop members that election into the
OA is not a popularity contest! No matter how much a person is liked or
active in the troop, they should not be elected if they do not plan to
participate in activities!
4. After the election, do not announce the results, but please send the
following information to me:
-Troop number
-Chapter
-Date
-Names of ALL eligible scouts
-Number of votes each scout recieved
-A list of those that were elected
-Names of the Scoutmaster, OA rep, and members of the election team.
Those elected will be called out at the Spring Camporee.
Thank You for your Cooperation!
I hope that this years elections go smoothly!
